Mission

Most Americans are familiar with the opening words of the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

But it is the Declaration’s closing words - which far fewer know – that I find most moving.

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

56 men pledged their fidelity to God and Country in 1776.

Today and every day, I stand as one citizen who does the same.
